Messenger of Death(1988) not as dispointing but thats not saying much

Well i finally finished my Charles Bronson 3 pack. The Mechanic was amazing and it doesn't need the dull looking remake. Assassination was fun at first, but became painfully stupid and unwatchable. That left me with Messenger of Death, another late 80's Bronson actioner from Cannon films,(home of the over the top cheesy action movies of the 80's). Hoping for a half decent action fest i got a less then ok crime movie with odd religion believes

Bronson plays a reporter who is trying to solve a odd blood feud between two religious nuts. He starts to research the happenings after a small family is murdered. Before he knows it, Bronson is now a prime target for both groups after his questioning gets him too close.

Messenger of Death wasn't as sloppy as Assassination, but it still wasn't that good. Acting wise the only actor of note was Bronson of course. He pulls off a mellow grandpa feel threw out(and i say that in the best light). He plays a decent enough reporter, who's quick on his feet and gets the job done. The rest of the acting was so so. With a cheesy performance from the hit man at the end.

A issue i had with the bulk of the film was the main story wasn't reaily interesting and there wasn't enough action to balance it out. The action that was in it was clunking as well, such as the car chase where it gets old quick. The last 3rd of the movie picked it up a little, but after the dull second 3rd nothing could save it.

Messenger of Death was worth the one watch, but i couldn't see myself watching it again anytime soon. Unless you can deal with the dull second 3rd i would say just still with The Mechanic.
