Breakout from Oppression(1978), Razors in soap and mad as hell women inmates

A young woman(Maggie Lee,that's her us name), is realised from a 8 year sentence for murder in jail to the outside world again. She starts to get a real live again by working at a newspaper. when things finally start to settle, strange things start to happen and it soon becomes clear someone is out to get her.

Breakout is one of the many hack job movies made by Joseph Lai. Lai is the man behind some of the cheapest genre movies ever made in Hong Kong. Theres a thin plot that barely holds everything together and most that remains is pushed far over the top.

Being this is a kinda of inmate movie theres lots of cheesy touches such as soap with razors in them, tragic flashbacks, and lesbo undertones. The flashbacks are a thing of beauty, every time it goes back to show her in jail she has creepy pigtails! One over the top scene that sticks with me the most is the bike crash scene. The last thing threw me off was how the movie turn into full on slasher in the 3rd act.Taking many notes from Friday the 13Th(1980). Just pure mayhem with corpses and flying heads.

Technically this movie is just as bad.It has some of the worse camerawork Ive ever seen, the zooms jump everywhere and the kung fu editing that doesn't fit a mystery movie. The dubbing is some of the hollowest and most painfully to listen to, I've heard in awhile.

Thankfully this wasn't one of Lai's cut and paste kung fu flicks(that's another subgroup of shit for another review), so thats a plus.Still all in all i couldve done without this movie. Tho the razor in the soap made it worth a almost view.
